How do students decide how many programs to reach out to? 

COVID-19 testing is recommended 3 to 7 days following a protest to detect asymptomatic disease for anyone present at the event to reduce spread. • Adult and elder care support is needed in their home or yours

    Yes, there will still be essential in-person activities in the CMC tied to learning physical exam skills and patient-physician,  communication skills. Yes, you get credit for those, but it depends on the clerkship what you get credit for specifically.

    How will the scheduling process work for thematic clinical blocks?

    Because the clerkship started late, the SPAN requirements have been revised. ,

    What is the status on Step 2 CS? 

    $30,000 was saved for emerging funds for students with emerging financial issues. This way, you’ll be able to schedule your COVID appointment around required activities. We get the test results in less than 24 hours.

    We don’t currently have the testing capacity to manage continuous testing.

     Students who leave the campus area for more than 30 days will need to return to the Campus/Bay area by January 10, 2021 to complete a COVID 19 test prior to the start of in-person activities.

    Are we allowed to take the Step 1 exam in a different city, outside of SF?

    Students can also work with third-year clerkship directors and their coaches to assess readiness for the next rotation.

    Who makes the decision about when to bring students to the clinical sites?

    Betsy Wan and Erica Brode who are looking after site placements and monitoring for any changes that need to be made.

    How is medical education helping with updated student mask fitting? 

    We are not supposed to care for COVID patients, but sometimes patients test positive after care begins.  

    Recommendations include administering a school-wide survey to assess students’ needs related to mental well-being.

    Immediately contact Student health and they will walk you through the various scenarios.  If you were wearing appropriate PPE (e.g. The only in-person activities that are being allowed to go forward are those where participating in these is deemed critical to making progress in the curriculum. There will be no shadowing at UCSF facilities or affiliates for F1 students.

    If a program is in your hometown and  you mention that in your personal statement, do you need to send a separate email to tell them that too?

    All other UCSF non-curricular, direct, in-person activities with each other, staff, faculty and communities remain suspended. Current PPE for MS1 students is cloth face (mouth and nose) covering external to the clinical environment and UCSF provided paper surgical masks for the clinical environment.

    Yes, there will be small groups in your foundation sciences. The Perelman School of Medicine has no maximum for letters of recommendation, however applicants may only submit up to 10 letters through the AMCAS Letter Writer Application.
