Like the analogue stick you just have to learn them to get good at them. The result is a bit of a mess. Decathlon Mode features all the same minigames as the Party Games, requiring you however to complete all of them solo. This does get a little better later on, but I would say that it is a major complaint about the experience. Title: Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz HD, Available On: Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Official Site: Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz HD, Release Date: October 29, 2019 (PC release this winter), Where to Buy it: Local Retailers, PlayStation Store, Xbox Store, Nintendo eShop. + Leaderboard is functional, - Horrendous level design The Main Game consists of a series of 8 Worlds to trek through, with 8 stages and a boss included in each one. -Monkey voices will drive you insane over time New Super Mario LEGO sets on the way add new features to Mario and more, Nintendo Australia’s eBay store is shutting down this month. However, her high jumps had me bouncing and rolling off level after level. There are three modes available within Time Attack – the Casual Course, Standard Course and the Expert Course. At first this seems like common sense. It was hard to see the point in playing games designed to be experienced with other players by yourself, but for anyone who loves all the minigames that much, Decathlon Mode is relatively inoffensive and doesn’t detract anything from the overall game. In combination with constantly fighting against the camera, it all proves to make bosses a real low spot in an already disappointing game. From World 5 until the end of the main campaign, many of the challenges presented to you are almost nothing but a series of tightrope walking and leaps of faith. Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz HD is a remaster of the original released on the Nintendo Wii back in 2006. I wanted to love Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz HD so much, but ultimately, I walked away with a bitter taste in my mouth. If you somehow found joy in the Main Game and crave more monkey action, there’s also the Time Attack available for you on the main menu. Either by playing the main games or seeing references in another title, you have probably seen this iconic monkey multiple times. It’s easy to experience motion sickness while playing Banana Blitz HD, especially on handheld. Also, you used the A button to jump in Banana Blitz. An artist that loves RPGs and cutesy games. All the stars were aligning for Monkey Ball’s revival on current generation systems with Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz HD, but with a heavy heart, it pains me to say that perhaps AiAi and his friends may have benefitted from staying asleep a little longer. Though, the problem is, these levels were not designed with flat platforms in mind. It’s difficulty definitely needs some work. Utopia Canceled After One Season on Amazon, Demon’s Souls Review: Even Dying Is Frustratingly Beautiful, Marvel’s Avengers to Receive Extensive DLC to Retain Playerbase. You used motion controls to tilt the stage, and you used motion controls to jump. However, I’m not entirely sure I would enjoy it as much on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, or PC, mostly because I could only play a few levels at a time before getting too frustrated to enjoy it. Another point of contention for the game is its difficulty. Boss battles especially highlight how unsatisfying jumping can be, as all of them require you to hit extremely specific spots by doing so. In closing, Super Monkey Ball is great to grab on the Nintendo Switch. Much of the problems Banana Blitz HD would be solved if the jumping was more precise. Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz HD for Switch game reviews & Metacritic score: "Hold onto your bananas, because Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz HD is rolling your way! Let’s not rewrite history – the game’s motion controls were largely positively received by critics and remain to this day extremely precise and responsive. Banana Blitz HD consists of four modes. After having to attempt individual levels over a few dozen times, It turns any sense of joy that you might’ve had into confusion and frustration, and the only thing you’re left feeling is a throbbing headache from the obnoxiously bubbly music that’s paired with the grating high pitched voice clips from your playable character, and a nagging sense that maybe you’re playing the game wrong somehow. While it isn’t a perfect game, Super Monkey Ball lends itself well to the Nintendo Switch’s pick-up-and-play mentality, but I’m not sure how well that would translate to other systems. That aside, I’m happy that this review points out that the level changes over-compensate for the new control scheme. All in all, this Super Monkey Ball remaster is a perfect Nintendo Switch title with its pick-up-and-play style, but only in smaller doses. While the original had 50 party games to choose from, this remaster only has 10. It doesn’t matter anyway, because these Champion Medals seemingly unlock nothing other than bragging rights… and being lucky at this game is not worth bragging about. It still has all the same charm and character of the original, but the gameplay is much smoother and not as hectic. If you’ve played any Super Monkey Ball before, this game is pretty standard fare.
