The mount was able to handle the 300P tube assembly with ease and was very easy to set up despite its bulk. You can still see all customer reviews for the product. Thoroughly recommended. The 300P comes with two eyepieces, a 25mm and 10mm 1.25-inch fit that give 60x and 150x magnification respectively. Instead, you just lift the tube assembly onto the rocker base and the main job’s done. Cant wait to find more plants/galaxies, Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 28 March 2017. Despite being a very faint, fuzzy blob I was blown away at being able to see the Andromeda galaxy for myself. Thoughts on Sky Watcher 200P after several years' use, Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 13 July 2017, If you would rather your money went into optics (enabling a decent view of the many celestial wonders) rather than fancy mounts and computerised go-to's then this is certainly the one to go for. There are also lots of tablet/smartphone apps available such as StarWalk2 that are great for helping you locate where the various objects are (the book: Turn Left at Orion is also excellent) and then the Telrad helps you point your 'scope precisely at them. The Skyliner’s 1,500mm of focal length collapses down to just under a metre thanks to its telescopically extending trusses, making it extremely portable for such a large instrument. Whilst there are more powerful instruments available, the cost tends to rise exponentially with aperture size and the knowledge required to operate them successfully and efficiently rises in a similar way. With the 25mm eyepiece, our targets stayed in the central 50 per cent of the view for more than 30 minutes, with only a small amount of drift – plenty of time to enjoy even the most engrossing views. We had no problems using batteries, which lasted for several nights. Great scope. The whirl of spiral arms around M51 and the dust patches along the disc of galaxy M82 were two particularly memorable sights. This review originally appeared in the February 2010 issue of BBC Sky at Night Magazine. I use the Baader Hyperion Mark III ClickStop Zoom 8-24mm eyepiece which is great quality and conveniently gives you multiple magnifications in a single eyepiece, but there are plenty of quality options to choose from. Poor customer service & faulty goods, Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 3 February 2020. Great product, Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 25 September 2018. Beyond expectation. and Saturn was out of this world... literally. Loaded with magnification equivalent to a 2mm eyepiece, we sought out Zeta Boötes – a double star with just 0.7 arcseconds of separation. Nebulae really benefitted from the Skyliner’s light grasp: M17, the Omega Nebula in Sagittarius, and M27, the Dumbbell Nebula in Vulpecula showed some lovely detail. I am a total novice but had done enough research to realise that I should not expect Hubble quality images. There's a problem loading this menu at the moment. Try again. Of course I would love to have the money to also buy a large computerised goto scope but this was a decent price for such a great light bucket. Telrads are fairly low cost and provide valuable assistance when locating galaxies and planets - there are lots of Telrad maps out there. It comes with a good quality 6×30 finderscope, two eyepieces – 25mm and 10mm – and a 2x Barlow that is threaded to accept a … Then, you can manually move the scope to your target, or slew to it with the motors. I've had this telescope for several years and I really love it, it's definitely great value and will last through the years. A 12-inch mirror collects 44 per cent more light than a 10-inch, but if the optical surfaces are poorly figured or out of alignment then that extra light could be wasted. It is positioned close to the focuser but doesn’t impede it, and it’s easy to look through without having to crane your neck.
