Summary: Ranger is about doing damage while staying out of AOE range and managing your enmity. Summary: Easy to gear (especially “roll only”) at first but can get expensive fast. PUP also gets boosted by how overpowered Overdrive is. Where I disagree with the ranking on PUP is that the job actually requires quite a bit of gear, and questing, and AF, and gil for attachments, and slow skillups, in order to be effective. Red Mage (RDM) --- RP = 6 --- EG = 6 --- Total 6 (T9th best). The job is still useful and can tank most things, but it does lack versatility and often requires some sort of healer. Yagyu Darkblade – the most powerful ninja sword and best dark-elemental weapon in the game, only usable by a Shikari. To narrow the definition of power, let's use these different bulletpoints. Plus you can use mog pells to get some gear for free. President of Russia 2. The downside compared to GEO and COR is that you a) need to be fast and b) need to be active and c) need to have a working knowledge of fights. Excels in low buff situation but can fall behind two-handed DDs when lots of buffers are present. Even if RDM has more niche in endgame than BLU, for returning players, it's certainly BLU > RDM and ranking isn't reflecting that fact. Very gear intensive job and jug pets clog up inventory. That said, there are situations where Beastmaster is better. PUP tanking adds value to groups in many ways, but one that is often overlooked is how for fights that scale enemy HP based on the number of people present you can basically remove a healer (that would be focused on a PLD or RUN) and replace them with a DD. The job that the Universe has decided for you will be manifested into reality with this powerful job affirmation. Definitely the most useful job to have sitting around undergeared as treasure hunter is invaluable. Based on the amount of human and financial resources that they have sway over, as well as their influence on world events. But there are also no relevant content that you can't use trust. This made the job more dangerous to play. Summary: Samurai can do solid damage but requires excellent gear and either the Empyrean or Aeonic weapon to really shine in end game fights. I've done everything as a WHM without Yagrush and just rely on quick reactions and knowing the mob/party members. This is great for damaging the super boss … Press question mark to learn the rest of the keyboard shortcuts, https://www.reddit.com/r/ffxi/comments/7rn2vs/returning_to_ffxi_heres_my_personal_blueprint_for/. And you can make up gear/JP deficiencies on white mage easier than any other job except COR. Thanks for taking the time to write it! So it's tough to apply a ranking for every player. I don't agree that WHM is difficult for a returning player, however. PLD RNG‘s ranking is actually quite accurate, IMO. PUP tank is niche but it is really great in that niche. There is only one such job. Most of the time, I only find PUP tank hard to utilize in melee setup to deal with dynamic content mechanics. I would place them at least equal to DRK and more returning player friendly than DRK due to not needing mage/casting gears, nor knowledge in spell prioritization. Summary: With the game becoming more melee friendly, White Mages are back in demand in a major way. Scholar (SCH) --- RP = 5 --- EG = 6 --- Total 5.5 (T11th best). I think your RP points need to factor more on how many people shout for it or how you can get into parties without having to plead your case. But ya... unless they fix Monk, I don't see myself coming back. And even then it requires extremely good knowledge in ffxi mechanics to choose the optimal playstyle for the situation, or build pts that fully utilize RDM strength. Vagary is one of the few things with some ambuscades where a BLU may be specifically requested. Yea I'm returning. It’s a spike damage job that can close skill chains well when it has its job abilities up. THF is a pretty good starter option as you can solo with trusts on way to endgame and use it for TH thereafter when you’re farming Dynamis, HTMB, or empy stuff in Abyssea. That said if you want another 99 job for random stuff, I'd suggest thief. Levelling up allowed you to move across the Sphere Grid in order to learn new attacks and gain stat points. Chancellor of Germany. If target or adds move around a lot because tank can't react as fast, it actually hinders DPS and kill speed. Edit: Just noticed blu is a tad lower than RDM too. In terms of DPS roles, THF NIN SAM are way lower than they should be, IMO. Having looked at some of those job changes and skills and stuff, you know what annoys me the most? My line of thought behind putting RDM up there a little further is that it's a job that is beneficial to have in every fight, regardless of the enemy. As you say, we have lots of tools to get debuffs off of our party. Press question mark to learn the rest of the keyboard shortcuts. Last edited 1/29/18 --- Lowered RDM rating after good feedback, increased PLD, minor text edits --- don't know why I'm getting down voted so much =/. SMN, SCH, COR, GEO, WHM, tank, will get you into most groups for end game activities. Doesn't have to be number 1, just that "if you have the best possible gear, you can compare with a walmart drg" would be great at this point... Yagrush can definitely break a fight, but I don't think it can make a fight. I'd probably put GEO/COR/WHM on the same tier for RP? This was a large board that contained most of the abilities in the game. With trusts you’ll be able to finish just about every non endgame activity or mission. SE tried to fix the job recently, but the changes did not move the needle much. Can solo astolfo axe as well as anwig for more pet dt. That wouldn't reflect the truth lol. Wow , Monk is the worst in the game now :( , i mean Monk never really had a place in endgame back than only for a chi blast build. The 22 jobs available in Final Fantasy XI are listed below. A bad WHM ruins a run and if someone's gonna get inspiration from this post, I'd rather they stick to GEO and COR until they get a pace of the game. Our pick for the best mage build in FF12 The Zodiac Age goes to the rather obvious combination of the Black Mage job and the Red Battlemage job. Has low attack and is best suited playing with multiple buffer jobs. It’s an expensive job to gear up and works best in strategies with other ranged attackers. Masamune I – the most powerful Katana, which is treated as a one-handed sword for gameplay purposes. Solo or Lowman, maybe. Thrives in smaller groups. Active nearly two decades, FFXI has over a dozen active servers, receives monthly updates, and is tied to Nexon's unreleased Final Fantasy XI R mobile project. I can see PUP certainly has more value in certain setup with less support, or certain fight, but in melee setup it's not always attractive enough to make it that high. Can't say that about too many jobs (including PLD, SCH, RNG, SAM). Edit2: That being said, the top 7 overall ranking job would be the same as what I have in mind. I've decided I wanna try smn for endgame, but before I start smn I want a 99 job to max fame, get all summons etc. Otherwise, it’s just another dime a dozen DD and heavy DD like DRK, SAM or WAR will probably be more desired if people want a melee DD. With that said, PUP tanking is still situational which is why it's not higher on the list. Some people think its Ergon weapon is situational and not optimal for magic heavy enemies. Complex job to gear because of the wyvern. Summary: The versatility of Red Mage makes it easy to find a role in many groups. Monk had a lot of use for smaller group stuff end game. There's a trust system now so anyone can easily solo on any job. Summary: Easy to gear up to a playable level, but requires very expensive/time consuming gear to truly reach its highest tier. At the mo I'm thinking for my first 99. Ninja (NIN) --- RP = 3 --- EG = 4 --- Total 3.5 (T19th best). Good solo job, pets add versatility. If I got thf to 99, would it be fine for unlocking all the avatars for smn? Corsair (COR) --- RP = 7 --- EG = 7 --- Total 7 (T3rd best). I've carried plenty of lackluster DD as well as GEOs and CORs who just afk (And sometimes not even have the spells learned), but it's hard to carry a bad WHM or a clueless tank. Main article: Final Fantasy XI jobs. Monk (MNK) --- RP = 2 --- EG = 2 --- Total 2 (22nd best). Magic skills are low, meaning newer GEOs can struggle to land key enfeebles in some fights. Summary: Almost primarily utilized as a DD in the current game. Not the easiest job to play but can do impressive weapon skill and skill chain damage. Summary: Can sometimes dish out insane damage. The weapon can make or break fights. It can enfeeble enemies to reduce evasion and increase skill chain damage while helping to heal and restore MP.
