The clip is insubstantial and I have no faith at all that it would hold up over time. It is a great vacuum with an excellent suction but unfortunately due to the ball is hard to reach under the furniture what makes your cleaning a little complicated. Now the issue is, that in the interim my return period with Amazon expired. I have owned a couple of different Dyson's now (the upright Animal and upright Compact) so I have some history with them. I found the canister vacuum to be HARD to push the head over carpet (u need muscle), the relentless leaning over (for carpet + woods) is a bit much, and the ball follows you as u move w/ briskness, picking up small furniture (etc's) along the way... and so it slams against bigger furniture pieces (or just gets hung up on them). I'm sorry to learn that you had a poor experience with your Dyson Big Ball canister vacuum. Cleans hardwood floors just as well as rug flooring. I specifically verify that this is not a same unit replacement but a re-engineered, different part that solves the issue. Note to Dyson: this will be our first and last Dyson vacuum. And sure enough it sucked so well that I was so excited about my new purchase and so glad I had tried the Dyson this time instead of purchasing another Kenmore. The hand-held wand caught my dress and nearly strangled me before I could turn it off. After ten years of very heavy use it was time for a replacement. After 30 years of high end and expensive German vacuums we decided to try Dyson and bought the expensive one recommended for heavy pet hair. I immediately emptied it out however the noise continued and continues to this day. However it gets one star. I can only explain my life as incredibly busy, hectic, balls-a-juggling (always). Also while the cyclone cannot be washed with water, we do recommend using a vacuum tool to clean the outside of the mesh as well as a can of compressed air to blow away dirt/dust on the inside as well. She tells me a) there is not a known design issue and b) there is no fix and all she can do is send me a whole new canister unit, which I tell her is no good because it's a design issue not a fault. I wish I had bought this when I was much younger. If you live in a smaller urban efficient space with some lushy area rugs - I'd steer clear. When I had to get a new one I was searching for a similar style. When my beloved Kenmore canister was on its last leg after being super faithful to me for the last 7 years (it should be noted that my Kenmore was purchased refurbished and I never once had an issue with it) I started to research vacuums. While my upright Dyson did a good job on the hard floors, it really wasn't designed for tile flooring. While I understand you've since returned your purchase for an upright, we'd value the opportunity to learn more regarding your experience, as we're dedicated to customer satisfaction. She says she'll send me one for free. I've only used my new Dyson canister vacuum once in the few days since I got it. It had to be shipped to our closest service facility and they promised me a one week turnaround time.
